Applications must be received by March 1st in order to be considered for the lottery. If we receive more applicants than we have available seats, a lottery will take place. Students not selected during the lottery, or who apply after March 1st, will be placed on a wait list. You can learn more about our lottery process below.
All families enrolling at Crossroads Charter Schools must live within the Kansas City Missouri Public Schools District boundaries. Among these families, priority is given in the following order thru March 1:
- Siblings of currently enrolled students
- Children of staff who live within the KCPS district boundaries
- KCPS District Families that live or work in the Greater Downtown Area (State Line to Prospect and the Missouri River to 39th Street)
We’d love to have you visit our schools! You may sign up to visit one or both of our schools. On the tour, you’ll visit classrooms, learn about our programs and staff, and receive an enrollment application.

Student Lottery Process
Crossroads Charter Schools holds an annual student lottery in order to enroll new students. The lottery is held after the March 1 open enrollment deadline. In order to be included in the lottery you must provide proof of residency within the Kansas City Public Schools boundaries and submit a completed enrollment application by March 1.
The lottery drawing is used to fill available spaces for enrollment. After the available spaces are filled, the remaining names go onto a waiting list.
Sibling preference: Crossroads Charter Schools and its families benefit from our keeping families together. For this reason, Crossroads Charter Schools offer an admissions sibling preference. To receive sibling preference, parents or guardians must submit a completed application by March 1.
Greater Downtown preference: Crossroads Charter Schools offer admissions preference to those KCPS District families that live or work in the Greater Downtown Area. (State Line to Prospect and the Missouri River to 39th Street) In order to receive this preference, parents or guardians must submit a completed application by March 1.
Waiting List: Crossroads Charter Schools maintains a waiting list for all grades. To make sure all children are treated fairly, we use the following process:
- Assign a number to each child on the waiting list by lottery.
- Notify parents after the lottery. Inform parents of child’s place on the waiting list.
- Move children into a class as space becomes available, starting with the lowest waiting list number for each grade.
- Call and/or email parent once child is accepted. Parents have two days to respond before we move on to the next name on the wait list.
- To make sure we can get in touch with you, please update us regarding any changes in email or phone number.
Crossroads Charter Schools does not keep waiting lists from year to year. If your family is still interested in enrollment, you must resubmit a completed application each year.
